Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older.
- People who are able to read, understand, and sign a consent form written in English.
- People who are able to tolerate both ultrasound and MRI scans.
- People who are able to lie flat or on their side for 20 minutes and hold their breath for up to 10 seconds at a time.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have metal or electronic devices inside their body — such as pacemakers, metal clips, drug delivery pumps, hip implants, or nerve stimulation devices — that are not safe for MRI scans.
- People who are pregnant on the day of consent, or who become pregnant during the study period.
- People who have liver conditions other than MASLD, MASH, or liver fibrosis — for example, cirrhosis, liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma), or fluid build-up in the abdomen (ascites).
- People who have broken or damaged skin on the upper right area of the abdomen.
- People whose liver cannot be clearly viewed using a standard ultrasound scan through the right side of the ribcage (confirm with trial site).
- People with a BMI greater than 50 kg/m².
- People whose layer of fat just beneath the skin at the measurement location measures 6mm or less.
- People who are missing a lobe of the liver.
- People who have fat surrounding the liver at the measurement location.
- People who have focal liver lesions (abnormal spots or growths) or other anatomical structures detected by ultrasound at the measurement location.
