Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 85 years old (inclusive), of any sex
- You have been diagnosed with a lung cancer or a cancer that has spread to the lungs, and your doctors have recommended radiation treatment to the chest area
- You are scheduled to receive a specific type of chest radiation therapy (either a standard course or a more focused, shorter course called SBRT), and you are able to complete a special pre-treatment breathing scan called a 4DCT
- Your general health and organ function are at a level your doctors consider suitable for radiation treatment, and you are able to carry out everyday activities with little or no limitation (confirm with trial site)
- You do not have any reason that would completely prevent lung function breathing tests; people with moderate long-term lung disease may still be considered if their doctors feel radiation treatment is safe for them
- You are able to attend all treatment sessions and follow-up appointments as required
- You are willing and able to give written consent to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding, or pregnancy has not been ruled out before starting radiation treatment
- You are younger than 18 or older than 85 years of age
- You have a serious, uncontrolled heart or lung condition, or another severe health problem that makes radiation treatment too risky (for example, severe heart failure, an unstable heart or lung condition, or a serious active lung infection)
- You have previously received a high dose of radiation to the same area of the chest, making it unsafe to treat that area again
- You have another active or advanced cancer that needs to be treated as a priority and could affect the results of this study
- You have recently taken part in another clinical trial involving a treatment, or you are currently receiving another experimental treatment that could interfere with this study
- You have a severe mental health, memory, or other condition that would prevent you from cooperating with the radiation treatment or attending follow-up visits
- The special breathing scan (4DCT) either produced poor-quality images or could not be used to create the required treatment plan
- Your doctors have identified any other reason they feel it would not be safe or appropriate for you to take part
