Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 years or older
  • People with early-stage cervical cancer (FIGO stage IB1) who are not suitable for surgery but can receive combined chemotherapy and radiation treatment
  • People with cervical cancer at FIGO stages IB2, IB3, IIA, or IIB
  • People with cervical cancer at FIGO stages IIIA or IIIB

  • People whose kidneys are functioning well enough to receive a chemotherapy drug called cisplatin, or who may receive an alternative drug called carboplatin if kidney function is reduced but still within an acceptable range (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are suitable for a type of internal radiation treatment called brachytherapy
  • People who are reasonably well and able to carry out daily activities, with a fitness score of 0, 1, or 2 on a standard medical scale (ECOG performance status)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with cervical cancer at FIGO stages IA, IIIC2, IVA, or IVB
  • People with FIGO stage IIIC1 cervical cancer where an affected lymph node is 3 cm or larger, where there are more than 2 suspicious nodes on scans, or where a node is located in the common iliac chain
  • People who have previously had radiation treatment to the pelvis or abdomen
  • People with active inflammatory bowel disease
  • People with an active connective tissue disorder, such as scleroderma or lupus
  • People who are unable to have an MRI scan
  • People with a fitness score of 3 or higher on the standard medical scale (ECOG performance status), indicating significant limitations in daily activity
  • People whose kidneys are not functioning well enough, based on a specific kidney function measurement falling below the minimum threshold required (confirm with trial site)
