Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with hip osteoarthritis, confirmed by X-ray imaging and reviewed by at least two doctors, and a physical examination has found at least one tender muscle knot (trigger point) in the area.
- Your hip pain or condition has been present for more than 3 months.
- You are 45 years of age or older.
- You still have a pain score of 3 or more (on a scale of 0–10) even after already trying medication-based treatments.
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a known allergy to any of the medications used in this trial, such as corticosteroids (a type of anti-inflammatory drug).
- You have issues with alcohol misuse, have used opioid painkillers for an extended period, are suspected of using sedative or painkilling medications, or are currently taking long-term steroid treatment.
- You have serious conditions affecting the nervous system, liver, kidneys, heart, blood clotting, stomach (such as ulcers), diabetes, or inflammatory joint diseases (confirm with trial site).
- You have had an injection into a joint in the past 6 months, or you are already planning to have joint replacement surgery.
- You are unable to use or understand pain rating scales.
- You currently have an infection, either in a specific area of the body or throughout the body.
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
