Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with shoulder osteoarthritis, confirmed by X-ray evidence and agreed upon by at least two doctors, and a physical examination has found at least one tender "knot" or tight spot in your shoulder muscle.
- Your shoulder pain or condition has been present for more than 3 months.
- You are 45 years of age or older.
- You still have a pain score of 3 or more (on a scale of 0–10) even after already trying standard medication treatments for shoulder pain.
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a known allergy to corticosteroids (a type of anti-inflammatory medication) or other medications used in this trial.
- You have a history of alcohol abuse, have used opioid painkillers regularly for an extended period, are suspected of using sedative or painkilling medications, or have been on long-term steroid treatment.
- You have a serious condition affecting the nervous system, liver, kidneys, heart, blood clotting, stomach (such as a gastric ulcer), or you have diabetes or an inflammatory rheumatic disease (confirm with trial site for full list).
- You have had an injection into the shoulder joint in the past 6 months, or you are already planning to have joint replacement surgery.
- You are unable to use a pain rating scale to describe your pain levels.
- You currently have an infection anywhere in your body, or at the injection site.
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
