Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with acute leukemia
• You have already received a stem cell transplant from a donor (known as an allogeneic stem cell transplant)
• Your doctors expect you to live for more than 3 months from the time you sign the consent form
• You are willing and able to attend scheduled visits, follow the treatment plan, and complete required tests, and you can give written consent
• If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test before joining, and both men and women who could have children must agree to use effective birth control throughout the study (women who have had surgery to prevent pregnancy or have been through menopause for at least 2 years do not need the pregnancy test)
• Your hemoglobin (a measure of red blood cells) level is below 80 g/L, meaning you have significant anaemia

Who may not be able to join:

• Your kidneys, heart, lungs, or liver are not working well enough (specific blood and test results will be checked — confirm with trial site)
• You have high blood pressure that is not well controlled by medication, or you have a history of a severe high blood pressure crisis
• You have had another type of cancer in the past 5 years (though certain minor or early-stage skin, cervical, breast, or prostate cancers may still allow you to join — confirm with trial site)
• You have had a major operation in the 8 weeks before joining, or have not fully recovered from any previous surgery
• You have had a stroke, mini-stroke, blood clots in the veins or arteries, or a lung clot in the 6 months before joining (minor superficial vein inflammation does not count)
• You have uncontrolled epilepsy, a history of bleeding or reduced blood flow in the brain, or another active brain or nervous system condition
• You have had a serious heart problem in the 6 months before joining, such as a heart attack, severe or uncontrolled heart failure, or an uncontrolled irregular heartbeat
• You have an active infection (such as a fungal, bacterial, or viral infection) that is not under control
• You have HIV, active hepatitis B, or active hepatitis C
• You have a history of a condition called pure red cell aplasia, or have developed antibodies against erythropoietin (a protein that helps make red blood cells) — (confirm with trial site)
• You are taking a medication or have a condition that might affect how the study results are interpreted
• You are known to be allergic to the study drug (luspatercept) or any of its ingredients
