Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 30 years of age or older
- You have a single thyroid nodule that was found to be a "follicular neoplasm" or "suspicious for a follicular neoplasm" based on a biopsy result (this is called a Category IV result in a standard classification system used by doctors)
- The nodule is smaller than 2 cm in all directions (roughly smaller than a grape)
- Your thyroid ultrasound scan result falls into a category called EU-TIRADS 3 or 4, which generally means the nodule looks low to moderately suspicious (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- Your thyroid ultrasound result falls into the EU-TIRADS 5 category, meaning the nodule looks more highly suspicious (confirm with trial site)
- There are signs that the disease may have spread — for example, suspicious lymph nodes seen on a PET scan, ultrasound, or CT scan, or signs that the tumor is growing outside its normal boundary or has an irregular shape
- The nodule is located in a risky position near important structures such as blood vessels, a nerve near the voice box, or the windpipe
- You have had thyroid surgery before
- You have a condition called hyperparathyroidism, where certain blood calcium and hormone levels are above specific limits (confirm with trial site)
- You are currently pregnant
- You are not able to give your own consent to take part in the trial
- A hormone called calcitonin is above the normal range in your blood test results
