Who might be able to join this trial:

Group A – Children treated with radiation:

  • Children and teenagers aged 0–17 years old
  • Children who have been diagnosed with a primary brain tumour through surgery, biopsy, or another diagnostic method, at Uppsala University Hospital or another university hospital in Sweden
  • Children who have been referred for radiation treatment at the Skandion Clinic in Uppsala and/or their local hospital, with or without other cancer treatments

Group B – Children not treated with radiation:

  • Children and teenagers aged 0–17 years old
  • Children who have been diagnosed with a primary brain tumour through surgery, biopsy, or another diagnostic method, at Uppsala University Hospital or another university hospital in Sweden
  • Children who have not been referred for radiation treatment, and who are receiving other cancer treatments or no additional treatment

Group C – Healthy comparison group:

  • Children and teenagers aged 0–17 years old at the time of joining the trial

Who may not be able to join:

Groups A and B:

  • Children whose tumour is located only in the spinal cord, with no brain involvement
  • Children whose tumour was considered unable to be cured from the time of diagnosis (for example, a type of tumour called diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma)

Group C (healthy comparison group):

  • Children who have a long-term health condition that requires ongoing daily medication

All groups:

  • Children or families where language barriers make it not possible to give informed consent to participate
