Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People who have chronic migraine, a prolonged severe migraine episode (status migrainosus), or facial/head pain that has not responded to the strongest available standard treatments, and who are already scheduled to receive a lidocaine infusion into a specific artery in the head (the middle meningeal artery)
- People who have given their written agreement to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a known allergy to lidocaine
- People who have a seizure disorder, a history of seizures, or a condition that makes seizures more likely
- People who have abnormal blood vessel formations inside the skull or certain abnormal connections between blood vessels near the brain (confirm with trial site)
- People whose blood pressure or circulation is unstable, or who have any condition where brief changes in blood pressure or blood flow could be harmful
- People who have previously had a procedure or brain surgery involving the middle meningeal artery that may have blocked it
- People who have any implanted electronic medical device, such as a heart pacemaker, defibrillator, deep brain stimulator, nerve stimulator, cochlear implant, or spinal cord stimulator
- People with serious heart or cardiovascular disease, such as unstable chest pain, severe heart rhythm problems, or a recent heart attack
- People with severe dysfunction of the body's automatic nervous system, which controls things like heart rate and blood pressure (confirm with trial site)
- People with an active infection anywhere in the body
- People who are pregnant, under 18, incarcerated, unable to make their own medical decisions, or have cognitive difficulties that prevent them from giving informed consent
