Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are willing and able to give informed consent to participate
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have a brain metastasis (a cancer that has spread to the brain) that is located in or very close to the part of the brain that controls movement (the primary motor cortex), within 10 millimetres of it
- People who are having surgery to remove the brain tumour
- People whose treating team has planned a specific type of targeted radiation treatment (called radiosurgery/SRS) after surgery, to be carried out at Inselspital Bern
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have certain implants or medical devices that are not compatible with a brain stimulation technique called TMS — this includes cochlear implants, pacemakers, deep brain stimulation electrodes, or other metallic or electrical implants (excluding dental work or standard post-surgery craniotomy hardware) (confirm with trial site)
- People who have conditions such as Meniere's disease, uncontrolled seizures, significant ringing in the ears (tinnitus), depression diagnosed by a specialist, or psychosis
- People who have previously had radiation treatment to the same area of the brain affected by the current tumour, if it would interfere with the planned radiosurgery
- People for whom whole-brain radiation therapy is planned
- People who have a second brain lesion within 2 centimetres of the current tumour, on the same side of the brain, in the motor cortex area
- People who have had an infection or wound healing problems in the two weeks before joining the trial
- People who are pregnant
