Who might be able to join this trial:
For therapists:
- Therapists who have been working as a clinician at a publicly-funded community mental health centre for at least 6 months may be eligible to take part.
- Therapists who have received training in a specific type of therapy called TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) may be eligible.
- Therapists who currently have an eligible autistic young person on their caseload may be eligible.
For child participants:
- Children and young people aged between 6 and 17 years and 11 months may be eligible.
- Children and young people who have a formal medical diagnosis of autism may be eligible.
- Children and young people who have a caregiver who is able to take part in treatment, and who was not the person responsible for any abuse or trauma the child experienced, may be eligible.
- Children and young people who have recently started outpatient therapy sessions with a therapist at one of the participating mental health centres may be eligible.
- Children and young people who show a moderate level of trauma-related distress, as measured by a standard screening tool called the Child and Adolescent Trauma Screen-2, may be eligible.
Who may not be able to join:
- Children and young people whose screening results fall within the "normal" range on the Child and Adolescent Trauma Screen-2 (meaning they do not show signs of trauma-related distress) may not be eligible to participate.
