Who might be able to join this trial:
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) group:
- People aged between 50 and 70 years old
- People with a formally confirmed diagnosis of multiple sclerosis
- People who are already participating in the AgeMS study at Oslo University Hospital
Cerebral Small Vessel Disease (cSVD) comparison group:
- People aged between 50 and 80 years old
- People whose MRI scan shows signs of small blood vessel disease in the brain related to high blood pressure
- People who have largely recovered well after a mini-stroke (TIA), a mild stroke, or a diagnosis that turned out not to be a stroke
Who may not be able to join:
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) group:
- People for whom an MRI scan is not safe or suitable (for example, due to certain metal implants)
- People with a serious psychiatric condition
- People with a significant physical disability caused by something other than MS or small vessel disease
Cerebral Small Vessel Disease (cSVD) comparison group:
- People for whom an MRI scan is not safe or suitable
- People whose brain scans and history suggest a specific condition called cerebral amyloid angiopathy, based on established medical criteria
- People with a blood vessel condition caused by genetics or inflammation
- People who still have ongoing neurological symptoms that have not resolved
- People with a serious psychiatric condition
- People with a significant physical disability caused by something other than small vessel disease
