Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with glioblastoma or a grade 4 astrocytoma (a type of brain tumour), confirmed through a biopsy or surgical removal of tumour tissue
• People whose doctors have determined that combined chemotherapy and radiation treatment (using a drug called temozolomide) is an appropriate treatment plan for them
• People who had their biopsy or tumour surgery no more than 12 weeks before joining the study
• People whose doctors expect them to live for at least 12 weeks
• People who are reasonably physically functional — able to carry out some daily activities, even if not fully active (this is measured on a standard scale called ECOG, scores 0, 1, or 2)
• People whose kidneys are working well enough to safely receive a contrast dye used in MRI scans (people with lower kidney function may still be considered after discussion with the study team)
• People who are able to attend all required treatment appointments and follow-up visits
• People who have signed a written consent form agreeing to take part
• People with tumours that have spread to more than one area of the brain may be considered, at the treating radiation oncologist's discretion

Who may not be able to join:

• People who cannot have an MRI scan for any standard medical reason
• People who cannot safely receive the contrast dye used in MRI scans
• People whose tumour shows signs of involvement in the brainstem on MRI scans, if they are being considered for the shorter 15-session radiation treatment course
• People who are unable to lie flat on their back for at least 30 minutes
• People who are unable to tolerate wearing a fitted plastic mask used to keep the head still during radiation treatment
• People who weigh more than 140 kg or whose head/neck circumference is larger than 60 cm (due to MRI scanner size limits)
• People who have previously had radiation treatment to the brain
• People whose tumour has spread along the lining of the brain or spinal cord
• People with a history of another cancer, unless it was a common skin cancer (non-melanoma), or another cancer that was fully treated with no signs of return for at least 2 years
• People with any condition — physical, psychological, or related to their location or circumstances — that would make it difficult for them to follow the study requirements
