Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People who score 33 or higher on a standard PTSD symptom checklist (called the PCL) at the initial screening
- People who are willing and able to agree to participate and complete all study-related tasks
- People who are fluent in English
- People who served in Special Operations Forces and are now veterans
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have received a nerve-calming procedure in the neck area (called a cervical sympathetic block, which includes procedures known as SGB, DSGB, or BCSB) in the past 6 months, whether on one side or both sides of the neck
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial involving an active treatment, or who are receiving any experimental treatment for PTSD, brain injury, or nervous system problems during the study period
- People who are currently in an acute mental health crisis that requires hospital care, or who have active thoughts of harming themselves or others, or who have untreated mania, psychosis, or severe dissociation
- People who have certain medical conditions that the treating doctor determines make the neck nerve procedure unsafe — including known abnormalities in neck anatomy, bleeding disorders, allergy to local anaesthetics, pregnancy, or other relevant health conditions
- People who are not able to read, speak, or understand English well enough to complete consent forms and study assessments
- People who score below 33 on the PTSD symptom checklist at screening, as this indicates symptoms may be too mild for the trial's purposes
