Who might be able to join this trial:

For patients who received radiation therapy for cancer:

• You received radiation therapy (radiotherapy) to treat a cancer condition at some point between January 1, 1999, and December 31, 2018
• You were under 18 years old at the time you received that radiation therapy
• You have had at least 4 years of follow-up care at the Endocrine-Metabolic Diseases Program, Pediatric Unit, IRCCS AOU Bologna
• You have given your informed consent to take part

For people who were never exposed to radiation therapy and have no specific thyroid cancer risk factors:

• You have never been exposed to ionizing radiation (such as radiotherapy)
• You do not have specific risk factors for a type of thyroid cancer called DTC — meaning no autoimmune thyroid condition, no family history of this cancer, and no relevant genetic syndromes
• You had a thyroid ultrasound scan performed between January 1, 1999, and December 31, 2018, at the Nuclear Medicine Unit of IRCCS AOU Bologna
• You were under 18 years old at the time of that thyroid ultrasound
• You have given your informed consent to take part

Who may not be able to join:

For patients who received radiation therapy for cancer:

• You moved your care to a different hospital before completing 4 years of follow-up at the Pediatric Unit of IRCCS AOU Bologna, and you were not diagnosed with thyroid cancer during that time

For people who were never exposed to radiation therapy:

• There are no exclusion criteria listed for this group (confirm with trial site)
