Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with a solid tumour cancer that has spread to other parts of the body, and you fall into one of three groups: (A) cancer that has spread to the fluid around the brain and/or spinal cord (with or without tumours in the brain itself), (B) tumours in the brain but no spread to the fluid around the brain/spinal cord, or (C) cancer that has spread elsewhere in the body but not to the brain or its surrounding fluid.
• You are able to have a lumbar puncture (a procedure to collect fluid from around the spine) and/or you already have a special device called an Ommaya reservoir that can be used to collect fluid from around the brain.
• You can join at any stage of your treatment — whether you have already started treatment or not.
• You have brain tumours that are either newly found and not yet treated, or were previously treated but are now growing again.
• If you were in this study before but your results were negative, you may be able to re-join if your condition has since changed or worsened.

Who may not be able to join:

• You are unable or unwilling to give written consent to participate (note: not speaking English is not a barrier — a translator can be used).
• You are not able to safely have a lumbar puncture — for example, due to infection near the procedure site, uncontrolled bleeding problems, a very low platelet count, blood-thinning medications that cannot be safely stopped, a risk of a dangerous pressure shift in the brain, or having metal hardware in your spine (confirm with trial site for full details).
