Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 65 years or older
- People who have been diagnosed with a specific type of brain tumour called glioblastoma (WHO grade 4, IDH wild-type GBM), confirmed by laboratory testing of tumour tissue
- People whose tumour has a specific genetic characteristic called an unmethylated MGMT promoter, as tested by their local medical team
- People who have already completed a specific course of radiation therapy (40 Gy in 15 sessions over three weeks) combined with a chemotherapy drug called temozolomide (TMZ), finishing within the last six weeks before joining the trial
- People whose general physical functioning falls within an acceptable range, as measured by standard medical scoring tools (ECOG score of 0, 1, or 2, and a Karnofsky score of 60 or above)
- People whose blood counts, kidney function, and liver function all fall within acceptable ranges on tests taken within the 28 days before joining the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer had spread widely across the lining of the brain or spinal cord at the time of diagnosis
- People who are unable to have an MRI scan with contrast dye
- People with a known allergy or sensitivity to temozolomide (TMZ) or a related drug called dacarbazine
- People with severely reduced bone marrow function
- People with an active hepatitis B infection
- People with serious or poorly controlled health conditions — such as active infections, poorly controlled diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or significant mental health conditions — that the trial doctor believes could affect safety or the ability to complete the trial
- People with a history of another invasive cancer, with some exceptions: non-melanoma skin cancer is allowed, as is fully removed cervical carcinoma in situ, low-risk or actively monitored prostate cancer, or other cancers for which potentially curative treatment was completed more than three years before joining the trial
