Who might be able to join this trial:

• People diagnosed with a type of blood cancer called AML (acute myeloid leukemia), or a related condition called MDS/AML with a specific level of abnormal cells in the bone marrow (10–20%), based on recognised medical classification systems
• People aged 14 years or older, of any sex
• People whose general health and ability to carry out daily activities falls within a certain range, as measured by a standard medical scale called the ECOG Performance Status (scores 0–2, meaning fully active to capable of self-care)
• People whose recent blood test results (taken within 7 days before treatment starts) show that liver function, kidney function, and heart enzyme levels are all within acceptable ranges, and that the heart is pumping normally as confirmed by an ultrasound scan

Who may not be able to join:

• People whose AML involves a specific genetic change called PML::RARA fusion gene (a subtype known as acute promyelocytic leukemia)
• People whose AML involves a specific genetic change called RUNX1::RUNX1T1 fusion gene
• People whose AML involves a specific genetic change called BCR::ABL1 fusion gene
• People who have already received chemotherapy aimed at treating AML or MDS (note: prior use of a medication called hydroxyurea to reduce cell counts is allowed)
• People who currently have another active cancer in a different part of the body that requires treatment
• People with certain active heart conditions, including uncontrolled or ongoing chest pain (angina), a heart attack within the past 6 months, a significant irregular heartbeat requiring medication or causing serious symptoms, or heart failure beyond a mild level
• People with active infections that are not under control, such as untreated tuberculosis or a fungal lung infection called pulmonary aspergillosis
• People who have any other medical condition that the trial doctor considers would make participation unsuitable (confirm with trial site)
