Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older
- You have been diagnosed with mouth sores (oral mucositis) caused by radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy, rated as grade 1, 2, or 3 on a standard medical scale
- You are currently receiving cancer treatment for a solid tumour, especially a head or neck cancer
- Your overall health is considered reasonably stable by your doctor (confirm with trial site)
- You are able to understand the study procedures, including doing some treatment at home and filling out questionnaires
- You are able to give written consent to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- Your mouth sores are rated as the most severe level (grade 4) on the standard medical scale
- You currently have an active fungal or bacterial infection in your mouth, such as oral thrush
- You have mouth ulcers or conditions not related to your cancer treatment, such as lichen planus or graft-versus-host disease
- You are currently receiving radiotherapy to the head and neck area at a high total dose (over 70 Gy), or you finished such treatment within the last 7 days
- You have used certain mouthwashes, sprays, or gels — such as those containing hyaluronic acid, ozone, or aloe vera — within the last 14 days
- You are taking certain medications that may affect saliva production or mouth healing, such as some antidepressants or water tablets (confirm with trial site)
- You have a known allergy to any of the products or materials used in this trial
- You have a serious or poorly controlled long-term illness affecting your heart, lungs, kidneys, or liver
- Your immune system is severely weakened, or your white blood cell count is very low
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have issues with alcohol or substance use, or any other condition that may make it difficult to follow the trial plan
- You are unable to attend all required check-up visits up to Day 30 of the trial
