Who might be able to join this trial:

For people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who may have or have been diagnosed with calciphylaxis (a serious condition affecting blood vessels and skin):

  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who have chronic kidney disease (CKD)
  • People where there is a suspicion of, or a recent diagnosis of, calciphylaxis, as agreed upon by the relevant medical specialists involved in their care
  • People who are able to understand and agree to take part in a study, as assessed by the local research team
  • People who are willing and able to provide written consent to participate

For people with chronic kidney disease (CKD) acting as a comparison group:

  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who have chronic kidney disease (CKD)
  • People who are able to understand and agree to take part in a study, as assessed by the local research team
  • People who are willing and able to provide written consent to participate

For the healthy reference group:

  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who consider themselves to be in good health, confirmed by the local research team at the time of joining

Who may not be able to join:

  • People in the calciphylaxis group whose diagnosis of calciphylaxis is later ruled out by medical specialists
  • People in the CKD comparison group who have been diagnosed with calciphylaxis
  • People in the healthy reference group who are aged 60 or under and have kidney function test results below a certain level (eGFR below 60 ml/min/1.73m²) (confirm with trial site)
  • People in the healthy reference group who are over 60 years of age and have kidney function test results below a range considered normal for their age, based on Danish nephrology reference standards (confirm with trial site)
