Who might be able to join this trial:

• Adults aged 18 to 85 years who have been diagnosed with fibrotic interstitial lung disease (a type of scarring lung condition) or COPD (a chronic lung condition that makes breathing difficult), and who are able to agree to take part in the study.

• People who are able to walk outside their home without using a walking aid such as a cane or walker (based on self-report).
• People whose lung condition and medications have been stable for at least the three months before joining the trial.
• People whose blood oxygen levels drop only during exercise (not at rest), specifically dropping to 89% or below for at least 10 seconds during a standard six-minute walk test while breathing normal air.
• People who are able to keep their blood oxygen level at 89% or above for the full six-minute walk test while using two specific types of portable oxygen devices at moderate flow settings.

Who may not be able to join:

• People younger than 18 or older than 85 years of age.
• People who have been diagnosed with both fibrotic lung disease and COPD at the same time.
• People whose blood oxygen level is already low (below 89%) while resting and breathing normal air.
• People who have visited an emergency room or been admitted to hospital in the three months before joining the trial.
• People whose medications were changed in the three months before joining the trial.
• People who need a walking aid such as a cane or walker to move around.
• People who are pregnant.
• People who currently smoke, or who live with someone who currently smokes.
• People who are currently taking part in a pulmonary rehabilitation program.
• People who do not have a smartphone that works with a specific app called Oxiwear, or who have a compatible phone but do not have home wifi or a mobile data plan that would allow the app to upload health data.
