Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are 18 years old or older
• Your lung cancer diagnosis has been confirmed through a tissue sample (biopsy), and it is a type called non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
• Your cancer is at a specific stage (stage IIB or III, with no spread to distant parts of the body) and a specialist medical team has agreed it can be, or potentially can be, removed by surgery
• Your treatment plan includes a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy before surgery, with the goal of curing the cancer (some additional radiation before surgery is also allowed)
• You have already received at least one round of this chemotherapy and immunotherapy combination
• You had a chest scan (CT scan, and possibly a PET scan) within 6 weeks before starting your pre-surgery treatment
• You had a follow-up chest scan (CT and/or PET) between 2 and 6 weeks after your last dose of pre-surgery treatment
• Your surgery is planned to take place between 2 and 10 weeks after your last treatment dose, with the goal of curing the cancer
• Your surgeon plans to check and remove nearby lymph nodes during the operation
• You are generally well enough to carry out light activity or self-care (confirm with trial site)
• You are able to attend follow-up appointments for at least 90 days after surgery
• You are able to understand and agree to take part in the trial by signing a consent form

Who may not be able to join:

• Your cancer has spread to other parts of the body (called metastatic or stage M1 disease), either at diagnosis or discovered later
• Your pre-surgery treatment does not include an immunotherapy drug (unless you are part of a specific comparison group in the trial — confirm with trial site)
• You have already had chemotherapy, other systemic treatment, or radiation to the chest for this lung cancer before starting the current pre-surgery treatment
• Your planned pre-surgery treatment is chemotherapy combined with radiation only, without immunotherapy
• A decision was made against having surgery before your pre-surgery treatment even began
• You have an active autoimmune disease (where the immune system attacks the body) that has needed medication to suppress the immune system within the last 2 years, have previously had an organ transplant, or have a history of moderate or severe lung inflammation (confirm with trial site)
• You have an infection that is not under control, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any other condition that a specialist medical team feels would prevent you from safely having surgery with the goal of a cure
