Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 70 years old
- You have been diagnosed with breast cancer, confirmed through a tissue or lab test
- You are scheduled to have a specific type of underarm lymph node removal surgery (called ALND) performed by one of the surgeons involved in this study
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had previous surgery in the underarm area, other than a needle biopsy of the breast or a sentinel lymph node biopsy
- You have had radiation therapy to the breast and developed nerve-related symptoms (such as tingling or numbness) after that radiation
- You received chemotherapy before your lymph node surgery and developed nerve-related symptoms from that chemotherapy
- You already have a nerve condition affecting your nerves, such as nerve pain, nerve damage, or numbness/tingling in your arm or hands
- You are currently taking certain medications used to treat nerve pain, such as gabapentin, pregabalin, duloxetine, opioids, or similar drugs (confirm with trial site for the full list)
- You have had previous spine surgery or have a spine condition affecting your neck, such as nerve compression or neck-related nerve problems
- You have limited movement or function in one of your arms or limbs
- You have a condition that affects the protective covering of your nerves (confirm with trial site)
- You have serious other health conditions, such as a clotting disorder requiring blood thinners, heart problems, or other conditions that may make long-term follow-up difficult
- You currently have pain in your breast, arm, or chest on the same side as the planned surgery, before the operation takes place
- You have previously had a procedure where a specific type of nerve monitoring used during surgery did not work (confirm with trial site)
- You have a lesion or abnormality in a specific part of your brain (confirm with trial site)
