Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are 18 years of age or older
• You are able to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation, or with some restriction but still able to care for yourself (confirm with trial site)
• Your lung cancer has been confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy)
• Your lung cancer is at a mid-to-advanced local stage (stage IIB to III) with no spread to distant parts of the body, and a specialist team has agreed it can be removed or potentially removed by surgery
• You are planned to receive a combination treatment before surgery that includes both chemotherapy and an immunotherapy drug (a PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitor); additional radiotherapy to the chest before surgery is also permitted
• You are planned to have a specific type of lung surgery called a robotic-assisted sleeve lobectomy, along with removal of nearby lymph nodes
• You have had or are planned to have required scans (such as CT and/or PET-CT) before and after pre-surgery treatment
• You are able to complete a follow-up visit 30 days after your operation
• You are able to understand and sign a consent form agreeing to take part

Who may not be able to join:

• Your cancer has spread to other parts of the body (stage M1), either at the start or after pre-surgery treatment
• Your pre-surgery treatment plan does not include an immunotherapy drug (chemotherapy alone)
• You have already received chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiotherapy to the chest for this cancer before starting the combined pre-surgery treatment
• Your surgery is planned only as palliative (to manage symptoms rather than to cure), or only a small, limited removal of tissue is planned when a more complete surgery would normally be recommended
• After pre-surgery treatment, scans show the cancer is clearly not removable, or the specialist team agrees surgery should not go ahead
• You have a medical reason that makes general anaesthetic unsafe, or your heart or lung health makes the planned surgery too risky
• You have an active autoimmune condition that has needed medication to suppress your immune system within the last 2 years, you have previously had an organ transplant, or you have a history of moderate or severe lung inflammation (confirm with trial site)
• You have an uncontrolled infection, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have another ongoing illness that could affect your ability to safely take part
