Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be 18 years old or older
- You are already scheduled to have a camera examination of your upper digestive system (a procedure where a thin tube with a camera is passed through your mouth to look at your stomach and small intestine)
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form before the procedure takes place
- If you are in Group 1 (Healthy Controls): Your blood tests do not show signs of coeliac disease and coeliac disease is not suspected
- If you are in Group 2 (Coeliac Diagnostics): You have been referred to have coeliac disease investigated for the first time, which requires a small tissue sample to be taken from your small intestine
- If you are in Group 3 (Refractory Injury): You have been confirmed to have damage to the lining of your small intestine that has not improved despite following a strict gluten-free diet
Who may not be able to join:
- If you are in Group 1 (Healthy Controls): You have another condition affecting your small intestine that causes damage to its lining, such as Crohn's disease or small intestinal ulcers
- You are not able to sign a written consent form for any reason
- You do not wish to take part in the trial
