Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 75 years old
- Your body weight falls within a healthy-to-obese range (BMI between 18 and 45) (confirm with trial site if unsure of your BMI)
- You have been diagnosed with focal epilepsy (a type of epilepsy starting in one area of the brain) for at least 2 years before the first study visit
- You have had at least one brain scan (MRI or CT) and one brainwave test (EEG) done within the last 10 years that support your focal epilepsy diagnosis
- You are currently taking between 1 and 3 regular anti-seizure medications (not counting emergency or as-needed medications)
- You are able to keep a daily electronic diary to record your seizures accurately
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had a previous allergic reaction to, or have previously received, the study drug RAP-219
- You have another serious medical, neurological, or mental health condition that is not well controlled or is likely to come back during the study
- You are expected to need surgery at any point during the study
- You have a history of generalized epilepsy (seizures affecting the whole brain, not just one area)
- Your only type of seizure is one where you stay fully aware and have no visible symptoms (confirm with trial site)
- You have a history of psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (seizures not caused by electrical activity in the brain)
- You have had a prolonged seizure or uncontrollable cluster of seizures within the last 12 months
- You have had brain surgery for epilepsy within the last 12 months
- You have taken part in another clinical trial involving an experimental treatment within the last 12 weeks, or within 5 half-lives of that treatment, whichever is longer (confirm with trial site)
