Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You meet the standard requirements for a type of weight-loss surgery called gastric bypass (RYGB), which includes having a BMI of 35 or above, having tried weight-loss programs without success for at least 2 years (or 1 year if your BMI is 50 or above), understanding that you will need to change your lifestyle and eating habits after surgery, and agreeing to long-term follow-up care at an approved weight-loss surgery centre
  • You are either scheduled to have gastric bypass surgery at HUG (Geneva University Hospitals), or you have already had this surgery at HUG and are currently receiving follow-up care with their Clinical Nutrition and dietetics team
  • You are able to understand and communicate in French

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are unable to give consent, or you do not wish to give consent to take part
  • You are planning to have a different type of weight-loss surgery other than gastric bypass (RYGB)
  • You have any of the following conditions that make weight-loss surgery inadvisable: not having enough knowledge about nutrition for weight loss, being pregnant, having serious kidney problems (confirm with trial site), having Crohn's disease, having an active cancer or being in remission for less than 2 years, having an active psychiatric condition, misusing substances such as alcohol, cannabis, or opioids, or not being able to follow the required lifestyle changes as assessed by a doctor or dietician
