Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with B-precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (a type of blood cancer) that has come back or stopped responding to treatment, with at least 5% cancer cells found in the bone marrow
• People whose cancer cells test positive for a protein called CD19, confirmed by laboratory testing at the time of joining the trial
• People whose cancer tests negative for a specific genetic marker called the Philadelphia chromosome, confirmed at the time of joining the trial
• People who experienced side effects from previous cancer treatments must have recovered to a mild or near-normal level before joining
• People living with HIV may be considered if their HIV is well controlled with HIV medication

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have a specific type of leukemia called Burkitt's leukemia
• People who have, or have had, significant brain or nervous system conditions such as epilepsy, stroke, severe brain injury, dementia, Parkinson's disease, or psychosis
• People who currently have an active condition called graft versus host disease (a complication that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant), or who have taken certain medication for this condition within 4 weeks before starting the trial
• People with a history of serious heart or blood vessel disease affecting the heart or brain
• People living with HIV who have a history of a cancer called Kaposi's sarcoma or a condition called Multicentric Castleman's Disease
• People who received a specific cancer treatment called blinatumomab within 12 weeks (Part 1) or 24 weeks (Part 2) before joining, or whose cancer did not respond to blinatumomab or who could not tolerate it
• People who have an immune system condition, or who are taking immune-suppressing medications above a certain dose within 7 days before starting the trial
• People who have another cancer that is currently active or has required treatment within the past 2 years
• People whose leukemia is only present outside the bone marrow and bloodstream (confirm with trial site)
• People with an active autoimmune disease (where the immune system attacks the body) unrelated to their leukemia that has needed treatment in the past 2 years, or a history of autoimmune disease that could affect the brain or nervous system
• People who have an active infection that requires treatment with medication
• People who have not fully recovered from a major surgery or who have ongoing complications from surgery
