Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 45 years old.
- Endometriosis group: You are a woman who has been diagnosed with endometriosis, either through a doctor's assessment or an ultrasound scan.
- Control group: You are a woman who does not have a diagnosis of endometriosis.
Who may not be able to join:
- You are younger than 18 or older than 45 years old.
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have previously been diagnosed with a long-term pelvic inflammatory condition or an autoimmune disease (a condition where the immune system attacks the body).
- You have a current or past diagnosis of an active gynaecological cancer (cancer affecting the female reproductive system).
- You have tested positive for HIV or HPV (human papillomavirus).
- You have used hormone-based treatments or therapies in the last 3 months.
- You have used medications that suppress the immune system, or steroid-based medicines (corticosteroids), in the last 3 months.
- You have taken antibiotic medicines that affect the whole body (not just a local area) in the last 3 months.
- Your monthly period does not produce enough menstrual flow to allow the necessary sample to be collected for the study (confirm with trial site).
