Who may not be able to join:

  • Your bronchiectasis is caused by cystic fibrosis
  • Your bronchiectasis is mainly caused by severe scarring of the lung tissue (a condition called fibrotic interstitial lung disease)
  • You currently have active tuberculosis (TB) of the lungs
  • You currently have an active lung infection caused by a related group of bacteria (nontuberculous mycobacteria) that requires specific treatment
  • You have an active cancer or a serious non-lung illness that is expected to prevent you from completing follow-up appointments
  • You have a severe, life-threatening illness that makes it unsafe to join the study or prevents reliable initial health checks
  • You have recently had major chest surgery or a serious chest injury that would interfere with the initial breathing assessments
  • You are unable to complete the full set of required health checks at the start of the study
  • You are unable or unwilling to attend the required follow-up visits over time
  • You do not wish to take part in the study
