Who might be able to join this trial:
For people with chronic migraine:
- Adults between 18 and 75 years of age
- People who have been diagnosed with non-responsive chronic migraine (a form of migraine that does not improve with standard treatments) according to established medical guidelines
- People who experience at least 8 migraine days per month that significantly affect daily life, and whose migraines have not responded well to at least three prescribed migraine prevention medications, or who were unable to tolerate those medications
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
For healthy volunteers:
- Adults between 18 and 75 years of age
- People who have not been diagnosed with non-responsive chronic migraine or other significant neurological conditions, as confirmed during a medical assessment at the headache centre
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People older than 75 years of age
- Children and young people under 18
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with a history of alcohol or substance abuse
- People who have a neurological, cardiovascular (heart-related), or cerebrovascular (blood vessel in the brain) condition at the same time
- People with liver disease or kidney disease
- People with certain mental health conditions, including psychosis, major depression, or bipolar disorder
- People who have a current or past diagnosis of migraine (this applies to healthy volunteers only)
