  • People who have melanoma that requires treatment with systemic (whole-body) therapy
  • People who are 18 years of age or older
  • People who are willing and able to give informed consent to take part in the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are unable to give informed consent to participate
  • People who have taken antibiotics (other than creams or ointments applied to the skin) within the 8 weeks before screening
  • People who have taken probiotic or prebiotic supplements within the 4 weeks before screening
  • People who currently have a condition involving widespread inflammation in the body (for example, a serious skin infection, shingles, or psoriasis)
  • People in the melanoma (case) group who have another active cancer diagnosis, other than a type of minor skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma
  • People in the comparison (control) group who have any active cancer diagnosis, other than basal cell carcinoma
