Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged over 18 years
- People who have been on regular kidney dialysis (hemodialysis) for more than 3 months
- People who receive hemodialysis three times per week, with each session lasting 4 hours
- People whose dialysis is working at an adequate level, as measured by a standard efficiency score called Kt/V of 1.2 or above (confirm with trial site)
- People who agree to take part willingly and sign a written consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a known allergy to the dialysis filter or the blood-cleansing device used in the trial
- People with a low platelet count (the blood cells that help with clotting) below a certain level
- People with low levels of a protein in the blood called albumin, which helps the body function properly
- People who still produce more than 200 ml of urine over a 24-hour period
- People whose blood cannot flow through the dialysis equipment fast enough during treatment
- People with blood clotting problems, a strong tendency to bleed, or active bleeding
- People whose blood pressure is too low before dialysis sessions
- People with an active cancer diagnosis
- People with an active infection, or serious illness affecting the heart, lungs, liver, or nervous system
- People who are planning to receive a kidney transplant from a living donor within the next 6 months
- People currently taking part in another clinical trial, or who participated in one within the past 3 months that could affect this study, or who are currently using gut health supplements such as probiotics
- People who have had a heart attack, unstable chest pain, a serious irregular heartbeat, heart or blood vessel surgery, or a stroke within the past 8 weeks
