Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes for at least 90 days before the screening appointment
- People whose Type 2 Diabetes is not well controlled through lifestyle changes alone, or who have been on a stable diabetes medication routine
- People whose blood sugar control levels (measured by a test called HbA1c) fall within a specific range — between 7% and 10.5% (confirm with trial site)
- People who have at least one existing heart or blood vessel condition (such as coronary heart disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke-related disease, or a moderate level of heart failure), or who have two or more risk factors for heart or blood vessel problems

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have Type 1 Diabetes, a rare or inherited form of diabetes, or a history of a serious diabetes-related emergency such as ketoacidosis or hyperosmolar coma
- People who are currently receiving, or are expected to receive, treatment for a diabetes-related eye condition affecting the retina or the central part of the eye
- People who have had more than one serious low blood sugar episode in the 180 days before screening, or who have difficulty recognising the warning signs of low blood sugar
- People with a significant condition affecting the upper digestive system, or who regularly take medication that affects how the stomach moves or empties
- People with a history of inflammation of the pancreas (either short-term or long-term)
- People with severe heart failure (at the most serious level, known as NYHA Class IV)
- People with a personal or family history of a specific type of thyroid cancer (medullary thyroid cancer) or a related inherited condition called multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2
