Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older
- You have been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus/SLE) based on recognised medical criteria
- You are already receiving regular medical care at Oslo University Hospital or another centre taking part in this trial
- You are able to understand and agree to take part by signing a consent form
- You are willing and able to provide blood and/or urine samples for testing
- For one specific part of the trial (biopsy validation): your blood or urine test results have shown certain changes or ongoing raised levels that suggest your kidneys may be affected, and your doctor suspects possible kidney involvement or is uncertain about kidney activity based on your test results
Who may not be able to join:
- You are unable to give your agreement to take part, unless there is an approved alternative way to handle consent
- You have a kidney condition that is not related to lupus, which could make it hard to correctly interpret your test results
- You have had a kidney transplant in the past
- You currently have an active infection or a serious sudden illness that could affect the study procedures or how your test results are understood
- For the biopsy validation part only: your doctor has decided that having a kidney biopsy would not be safe or appropriate for you
- For the biopsy validation part only: there is a medical reason why you should not have a kidney biopsy, based on your hospital's guidelines or your specialist's assessment (confirm with trial site)
- For the biopsy validation part only: you do not wish to have a kidney biopsy or do not want to take part in the biopsy validation part of the trial
