Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who attend a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation outpatient clinic
- People who are already scheduled to have a routine bone density scan (called a DXA scan) as part of their normal clinical care
- People who are physically able to perform a handgrip strength test
- People whose bone density scan results from the lower back and hip are of suitable quality for analysis
- People who are willing and able to sign a written consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People under the age of 18
- People whose bone loss is caused by another medical condition, such as a hormone disorder, a condition affecting the adrenal glands, cancer, or other diseases that affect bone health
- People with a history of a metabolic bone disease
- People who have experienced a major injury or broken bone in the past 6 months
- People who have a condition affecting their arms or hands that could significantly impact their grip strength test results, such as severe joint disease, nerve-related conditions, or major physical deformities of the upper limbs
- People whose DXA scan results are not of adequate quality for analysis
- People who are unwilling or unable to sign a written consent form
