  • People who have been diagnosed by a pathologist (through tissue testing) with either oral cancer or throat cancer (specifically squamous cell carcinoma type)
  • People whose cancer has been classified as locally advanced — this includes certain Stage III or Stage IVA mouth cancers, certain stages of throat cancer that is not linked to HPV, or certain Stage II or III throat cancers that are linked to HPV — and where the treating team has assessed the cancer as removable by surgery

  • People whose kidneys are filtering blood at an adequate rate (eGFR above 50 mL/min)
  • People whose heart, lungs, thyroid, and other vital organs are functioning well enough to tolerate the treatment involved in this trial, as assessed by the trial team
  • People who have signed a consent form agreeing to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
  • People with a history of epilepsy or a mental health condition that is not well managed
  • People who are still experiencing significant side effects (grade 2 or higher) from a previous cancer treatment
  • People with autoimmune diseases (where the immune system attacks the body), or those considered to be at high risk of bleeding, or anyone the trial team considers unsuitable for other medical reasons (confirm with trial site)
