Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between 18 and 80 years of age
- People who have been diagnosed with fatty liver (a condition where fat builds up in the liver), confirmed by an abdominal ultrasound scan
- In addition to fatty liver, people who also have at least one of the following health characteristics:
- A body mass index (BMI) of 23 or higher, which falls in the overweight or obese range
- A waist measurement of 90 cm or more (for men) or 80 cm or more (for women), using South Asian and Chinese measurement guidelines
- Blood sugar levels in the prediabetes or type 2 diabetes range, based on specific blood test results, or people currently taking medication for type 2 diabetes (confirm exact values with trial site)
- Triglyceride (a type of fat in the blood) levels of 150 mg/dL or higher, or people currently taking cholesterol-lowering medication
- Low levels of HDL cholesterol (often called "good" cholesterol) — specifically 39 mg/dL or below for men, or 50 mg/dL or below for women — or people currently taking cholesterol-lowering medication
- Blood pressure of 130/85 mmHg or higher, or people currently taking blood pressure medication
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a known allergy to honey, propolis, multiple pollens, or alcohol
- People with a diagnosed psychiatric condition or a recognised impairment in thinking or memory
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with a significant hormonal (endocrine) disorder, or a serious condition affecting the heart, liver (other than fatty liver disease), or kidneys
- People who have difficulty swallowing capsules
- People living with dementia, significantly reduced consciousness, or who are unable to complete questionnaires
