Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults between the ages of 18 and 60 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) based on standard medical criteria (DSM-5)
- People whose depression is connected to trauma and who have significant trauma-related symptoms
- People whose depression severity scores above a certain level on a standard rating scale called the HAM-D (confirm with trial site)
- People whose trauma-related symptom scores are above a certain level on a checklist called the PCL-5 (confirm with trial site)
- People whose anxiety scores are above a certain level on a standard scale called the GAD-7 (confirm with trial site)
- People who have been taking a single SSRI antidepressant consistently and without changes for at least 6 weeks before joining the trial
- People who are able and willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- People who are willing to attend all study visits and follow all study procedures
- Women who could become pregnant must agree to use effective birth control for the entire duration of the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People with serious heart or cardiovascular conditions
- People with significant liver or kidney problems
- People with significant neurological conditions affecting the brain or nervous system
- People who currently have or have previously had a psychotic disorder or bipolar disorder
- People who currently have a problem with alcohol or drug use, including past or current use of ketamine or psychedelic drugs
- People who are taking more than one antidepressant medication
- People who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or currently breastfeeding
- People who have a known allergy or medical reason they cannot take psilocybin
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial within the past 30 days
- People who are not able or willing to sign a consent form
- People who have any other medical or mental health condition that the trial doctor believes could make participation unsafe or affect the study results
