Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 years or older.
- People who have been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and are current or former smokers, and/or people diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and are current or former smokers, and/or people diagnosed with a type of lung cancer called lung adenocarcinoma that can be treated with surgery (at certain stages).
- People who are able to follow the study procedures and attend any required follow-up visits.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable or unwilling to give their formal consent to take part in the study.
- People who have an active respiratory infection, or whose COPD or IPF is in a period of sudden worsening, at the time of joining the trial.
- People who have, or have previously had, another form of cancer (other than a common type of non-serious skin cancer) that could affect the study results.
- People who have recently taken or are currently taking certain medicines that suppress or reduce inflammation in the immune system, which could affect how the immune system is measured in the study (confirm with trial site regarding exact timeframes).
- People with serious other health conditions — such as advanced heart failure or severe kidney or liver disease — that may affect life expectancy or the ability to complete the study.
- People from whom the required blood samples cannot be collected, or whose blood samples are not of suitable quality for the study.
