Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are willing and able to give informed consent to participate
- People who were assigned female sex at birth
- People who are capable of having menstrual cycles
- People aged 21 or older
- People who have been diagnosed with at least one of the following conditions: endometriosis, adenomyosis, or chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
- People whose medications and/or mental health therapy have remained unchanged for at least 3 months before the study begins, including any hormonal contraceptives
For a smaller sub-group within the trial (called the PK subgroup), there is one additional requirement:
- People who are willing to have a small tube (catheter) placed in a vein so that blood samples can be collected at several points during the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who currently have a diagnosis of a substance use disorder, a psychotic disorder, bipolar disorder, or an eating disorder (as defined by the DSM-5 medical guidelines)
- People who are currently using any cannabis or cannabinoid-based products
- People who have a positive pregnancy test, are currently trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding
- People who have a serious or unstable health condition, such as liver or kidney disease, heart disease, a neurological condition, or who take medications that affect how the body absorbs drugs or empties the stomach (such as GLP-1 medications like semaglutide)
- People who have nerve-related (neuropathic) pain or pain caused by cancer
- People who have a known genetic variation that affects how their body processes certain medications through a liver enzyme called CYP2C9 (confirm with trial site)
- People whose liver function blood test results are more than three times higher than the normal upper limit at the first study visit
