Healthy volunteers:

  • Adults aged 18 or older who have never been diagnosed with, or currently suspected of having, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • People who are willing to agree to having samples collected

People with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD):

  • People who have been diagnosed with IBD — including ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, or IBD-unclassified — and are currently experiencing active symptoms (a flare), confirmed by standard medical measurements taken within the 2 months before joining the study
  • For Crohn's disease: active symptoms are determined using specific scoring tools that measure things like daily stool frequency and abdominal pain, along with a stool test result of 250 micrograms/gram or above (confirm with trial site for exact score thresholds)
  • For ulcerative colitis or IBD-unclassified: active symptoms are determined using a specific scoring tool that includes a rectal bleeding component, along with a stool test result of 250 micrograms/gram or above (confirm with trial site for exact score thresholds)
  • People who are able to give informed consent to participate, including with the help of an interpreter if needed

  • People who are unable or unwilling to give informed consent to take part in the study
