Who might be able to join this trial:
People with liver conditions (affected participants):
- People aged 2 years or older
- People who have been assessed by a licensed medical professional as having suspected or confirmed acute or chronic liver disease, or who are considered at risk of developing liver disease
Healthy volunteers:
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who are in good general health based on their medical history
Who may not be able to join:
Affected participants:
- People who have a history of serious medical conditions that could make long-term follow-up difficult (confirm with trial site)
Healthy volunteers:
- People who have any ongoing chronic medical condition, including heart, kidney, or lung disease
- People who regularly take any medications or supplements, with the exception of standard daily multivitamins or oral contraceptives
- People who have consumed more than an average of one alcoholic drink per day over the past six months
- People who have a history of liver disease, except for newborn jaundice
- People who have had a serious illness, infection, or major surgery within the past year
- People who have a history of cancer, except for a type of skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma) that was fully removed more than one year before joining the trial
- People whose BMI is below 18 or above 25
- People whose blood haemoglobin level is below certain thresholds (below 11 for women, below 12 for men)
- People whose liver enzyme levels (ALT) exceed certain thresholds (above 35 for men, above 25 for women)
- People whose alkaline phosphatase blood level is 150 or higher
- People whose bilirubin level is above 2 g/dL
- People who test positive for HIV, hepatitis C, or hepatitis B
- People who are pregnant
- People who are unable to provide informed consent
