Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2), either through established medical criteria or genetic testing.
- People aged between 8 and 75 years old.
- People who are able to have repeated MRI scans of the brain and spine without needing sedation through a drip (IV).
- People who are able to give their own informed consent to take part, or, for children, people whose parent is able to give consent on their behalf.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a serious unstable medical condition that would make it unsafe to have regular check-ups and scans — for example, severe heart failure, severe long-term kidney disease, or severe long-term lung disease.
- People who cannot have an MRI scan — for example, due to an allergy or concern about MRI contrast dye, or because they have metal implants in their body such as a pacemaker, stimulator, pump, aneurysm clip, metal prosthesis, or artificial heart valve that could cause harm or affect the scan images.
- People who have an Auditory Brainstem Implant (ABI) or cochlear implant that has not been approved for safe use on the scanners at the NIH Radiology department.
- People who have severe long-term kidney disease (based on a specific kidney function measurement), a condition called hepatorenal syndrome, or who have previously had a liver transplant.
- People who are pregnant at the time of their first visit (women who could become pregnant will be asked to take a urine pregnancy test).
