Who might be able to join this trial:
People with vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels):
- People who have been diagnosed with certain types of vasculitis, including GPA, PAN, EGPA, GCA, TAK, or MPA, based on recognised medical classification systems
- People with other suspected forms of vasculitis affecting one or more parts of the body
Healthy volunteers:
- People who are able to give their own consent to participate, or in the case of children, who are able to give their agreement (with a parent or guardian also consenting)
Who may not be able to join:
People with vasculitis:
- Children under 3 years of age
- People who currently have an active cancer, active infection, or any other medical condition that the trial doctor feels makes participation unsafe
- People who are unable to give their own consent, or in the case of children, unable to give their agreement to take part
- People who have a bleeding disorder or are taking blood-thinning medications (such as warfarin, heparin, or clopidogrel — note: aspirin and anti-inflammatory painkillers like ibuprofen are not excluded) cannot take part in the nasal brushing or biopsy parts of the study
Healthy volunteers:
- Children under 3 years of age
- People who have been diagnosed with vasculitis or another autoimmune or inflammatory condition, such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, sarcoidosis, or mixed connective tissue disease
- People who currently have an active cancer, active infection, or any other medical condition that the trial doctor feels makes participation unsafe
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People who have a bleeding disorder or are taking blood-thinning medications (such as warfarin, heparin, or clopidogrel — note: aspirin and anti-inflammatory painkillers are not excluded) cannot take part in the nasal brushing parts of the study
