Who might be able to join this trial:

• Parents must give consent for their child to participate, and children older than 8 years must also give their own consent
• Children between 6 months and 18 years of age are eligible
• The child must have been born at full term (at or after 37 weeks of pregnancy)
• The child and/or family must have an active or passive understanding of German
• For children aged 6 months to under 6 years: the child must have had more than two episodes of wheezing (a whistling sound when breathing) in the 12 months before joining the trial
• For children aged 6 years and older: a doctor must have diagnosed the child with asthma according to current medical guidelines

Who may not be able to join:

• Children who have a known lung disease that was present from birth or developed around the time of birth
• Children who have a malformation or abnormality of the airways
• Children who needed oxygen for more than 24 hours after birth
• Children who needed breathing machine support (a ventilator) after birth
• Children who have been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis or primary ciliary dyskinesia (a condition affecting tiny hair-like structures in the airways)
• Children who were diagnosed after birth with heart failure that affects blood flow through the lungs
• Children who have a serious ongoing lung condition, such as interstitial lung disease (scarring or inflammation deep in the lungs)
• Children who currently have any other health condition that is not related to allergies (confirm with trial site)
• Children who have had a fever of 38.5°C or higher in the two weeks before their first planned visit
