Who might be able to join this trial:

• A participant or their legal representative has agreed to take part by signing a consent form
• The person is over 18 years of age
• The person has advanced heart failure with severe symptoms (classified as Stage III or IV), has a mild leaky tricuspid heart valve (a valve on the right side of the heart), and is already scheduled to receive a surgically implanted heart assist device called an LVAD

Who may not be able to join:

• The person has previously had repair surgery on their tricuspid heart valve
• There is evidence of physical damage to the structure of the tricuspid valve, such as problems with the cords or flaps of the valve
• There are technical surgical obstacles that the investigator considers to carry an unusually high risk (confirm with trial site)
• The person is already using a mechanical heart support device, other than a specific type called an intra-aortic balloon pump
• The person has a Body Mass Index (a measure of body weight relative to height) above 45
• The person is pregnant
• The person has a mechanical aortic heart valve that will not be replaced with a tissue-based valve at the time of LVAD surgery
• The person has previously had a heart transplant or a procedure called cardiomyoplasty (a surgery involving muscle wrapped around the heart)
• The person has a psychiatric illness, significant memory or thinking difficulties, or social circumstances that are likely to make it hard to follow the study requirements and manage the LVAD device
• The person has an active infection that is not under control
• The person has evidence of liver disease, based on liver enzyme blood test results
• The person has had a stroke in the 90 days before enrolling, or has a history of significant narrowing (more than 80%) of blood vessels leading to the brain
• The person requires ongoing kidney dialysis
• The person is already taking part in another clinical trial that could interfere with this study's results
• The person has a condition other than heart failure that is likely to limit survival to less than one year
• The person does not wish to take part in the study
• The person is currently living in an institutional facility as an inmate
