Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis, whether caused by natural wear and tear or a long-term injury.
- People between 18 and 90 years of age.
- People who are able to follow the treatment plan, attend lab tests, and take part in regular check-in interviews.
- People whose kidneys are working well enough, based on a blood test result (creatinine level at or below 1.5 mg/dl).
- People whose heart and lungs are functioning adequately.
- People whose blood clots normally, confirmed by specific blood test results (PT(INR) below 1.5 and APTT within an acceptable range — confirm with trial site).
- People who have a healthy immune system with no known immune deficiency condition.
- People who have had pain in one shoulder (left or right) for more than 6 months.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had a cancer diagnosis in the last 5 years, unless it was a certain type of skin cancer (basal cell or squamous cell) that was fully removed by surgery.
- People with a serious or unstable heart or circulatory condition, or a history of stroke.
- People who have had a mini-stroke (transient ischemic attack) in the 6 months before joining the trial.
- People who have hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or HIV.
- People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 40, which is a measure of body weight relative to height.
- People who currently have an active infection.
- People with certain mental health conditions, or alcohol or drug dependency that the trial doctor believes would make participation unsuitable.
- People who have used strong opioid pain medications in the past 4 weeks for pain unrelated to their shoulder osteoarthritis.
- People who have had a corticosteroid (steroid) injection in the shoulder being treated within the past month.
- People who have regularly used anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) within 48 hours before the procedure.
