Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis, whether from gradual wear and tear or a long-term injury.

  • People whose body mass index (BMI) is above 40 kg/m².
  • People who currently have an active infection.
  • People with certain psychiatric conditions, or alcohol or drug dependency, that a trial doctor considers would make participation unsuitable.
  • People whose pain or mobility may be affected by other treatments or factors, including:
    • Use of strong opioid pain medicines in the previous 4 weeks for pain unrelated to hip osteoarthritis
    • A steroid injection into the hip within the past month
    • Regular use of anti-inflammatory medicines (such as ibuprofen) within 48 hours before the procedure
