Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Men and women aged 50 to 80 years (inclusive) who are not very physically active, meaning they do less than 3 sessions per week of vigorous exercise lasting 20 minutes or more
  • People who have noticed problems with their own memory or thinking, confirmed by a score of 25 or higher on a standard memory complaint questionnaire called the MAC-Q
  • People who do not have dementia but have at least one of the following health conditions that can affect blood vessels and brain health: high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity (with a body mass index under 40), high cholesterol, current smoking, or a past history of heart disease without symptoms in the last 5 years

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a diagnosed developmental disability
  • People who have been diagnosed with dementia, or where dementia is suspected based on medical history, a low score on a phone-based cognitive test, or difficulty managing daily tasks due to memory or thinking problems
  • People with a terminal illness where life expectancy is less than one year
  • People who are not fluent in spoken and written English
  • People who have had a stroke
  • People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial
  • People who have other medical or neurological conditions (for example, multiple sclerosis) that could affect thinking ability or make it unlikely they would complete the trial, as judged by the trial investigators
  • People for whom the trial's specific intervention is not medically suitable (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are unable to have an MRI scan, for example due to certain metal implants or other contraindications
